A few ways of building three dimensional manifolds
星期三, 2 十月, 2024 - 17:00
Résumé :
In this talk we aim to show how three dimensional manifolds can be built and drawn, in the specific case of lens spaces. Lens spaces are three dimensional manifolds that can be defined as quotients of the three dimensional sphere under a certain cyclic group action. Starting from this definition, we will describe them in at least three different ways : polyhedras with a pairwise identification of their faces, gluings of two solid tori, and surgeries on the trivial knot.
